The Rarest Jewels Blue Pyramid Egyptians (BPE), a small breeding program with locations in Utah and Oklahoma, is dedicated to the conservation of the rare strain of horses listed as Kuhaylan with no substrains. This endangered bloodline of Egyptian Arabian horses traces through the dam line to the mare Nafa'a. Nafa'a, bred by Abdul Aziz Ibn Sa’ud, was incorporated into the Inshass stud when received by King Farouk as a gift from the Sa'ud family. Of all the Nafa'a offspring, only Serenity Bint Nadia, imported to the United States by Hansi Heck-Melnyk of Serenity Farms, left traceable produce through the dam line. The other Nafa'a daughters were sold to the EAO Police or other local buyers and have left no traceable progeny. Some of Serenity Bint Nadia's granddaughters were sold to Count Federico Zichy-Thyssen and exported to Argentina, but in North America, Nafa'a is represented by two producing lines through Serenity Kamila and Cedardell Tiffany.
The Serenity Kamila side of the Nafa'a family has the fewest representatives. Serenity Kamila had five daughters, only IES Kaamelah and IES Kameesha remained in the U.S. The last filly from the IES Kaamelah line was exported maiden, so only IES Kameesha has producing female offspring in the United States. Le Kameesha Amira (Kammy) joined the mares at BPE Utah and, in 2008, had a daughter (sired by Himself) that we named Bint Kameesha Amira (Bounce). San Baazinah (xBint Kameesha) is at BPE Oklahoma and was bred to El Norus (X Karaima x Cedardell Tiffany) for a 2010 foal, mixing the two Nafa’a lines. Baazinah’s sister San Aakefaa (x Bint Kameesha) is at BPE Utah -- maiden and 21 years old, but is in foal for a 2010 (sired by Himself). Janet Flork in Washington owns Extremely Nice ("Peaches") (x Le Kameesha Amira) and Peaches daughter JF Kameerah. Peaches has produced four straight Egyptian daughters, JF Falzana (1998), JF Falmoniet (1999), JF Kameerah (2002), and JF Black Lace (2005). Only JF Kameerah has straight Egyptian progeny. Of note – in addition to Peaches and Bounce, Le Kameesha Amira (Kammy) is the dam of Last Chance Too (Chance). Chance is the sire of JF Extreem Chance and JF Amir Ibn Kameerah, so Kammy is JF Amir Ibn Kameerah’s grandmother and great grandmother. Serenity Kamila had two sons, Serenity Untouchables and ZT El Hadidi (gelded). Serenity Untouchable has several sons located around the world to carry on the Serenity Kamila blood. The straight-Egyptian Serenity Kamila stallions in production in the U.S. include the 2008 colt JF Extreem Chance (Extremely Nice x Last Chance Too) and the 2007 colt JF Amir Ibn Kameerah (JF Kameerah x Last Chance Too), both double Serenity Kamila colts. Amir is owned by BPE and will add his blood to the Nafa’a conservation program when he comes of age. He is pastured next to his great grandmother Le Kameesha Amira, and is across from his great aunt (and little sister), Bint Kameesha Amira.
Straight Egyptian stallions in production in North America with tail female lines through Cedardell Tiffany to Nafa'a are Warpath (x Diaa) no progeny, MB Kerimdal (Keraima) no progeny, El Norus (Keraima), Rostam (Dahleeah) no progeny, Ibn Norus and WD Sehnab (Delha) no progeny. Only Warpath, El Norus, and WD Sehnab are in the U.S. Only El Norus has progeny, but we have hopes for WD Sehnab. The goal of Blue Pyramid Egyptians is to not only conserve the Nafa’a blood, but to concentrate it to see the results of Serenity Kamila X Serenity Kamila, Cedardell Tiffany X Cedardell Tiffany, and also evaluate the results of crossing the two lines. So far, the results have exceeded our expectations. These horses seem to just get better with every new infusion of the Nafa’a blood. There is enough genetic diversity in all of the mares and the stallions that we have used, to keep it a viable experiment and let us continue to concentrate Nafa’a. We have seen the improvement in individuals in the colt JF Amir Ibn Kameerah and the filly Bint Kameesha Amira from the Serenity Kamila line, and we expect to see a similar result in the bpe Shah Hilala (Hilly) cross with El Norus that will double Cedardell Tiffany. Two lines -- very distinct yet both have consistent production and classic characteristics. The Kuhaylan n.s. strain, represented by the Nafa'a progeny through her daughter Serenity Bint Nadia, is clearly one of the rarest straight-Egyptian bloodlines and strains in the world today.
